October

The month of October has been a fun and eventful month of college for me. I had the wonderful opportunity to listen to the Nobel Conference on Addiction. I’ve learned great deal on addiction and the various levels of being addict. In addition, I had the delightful chance of inducting six new member into the fraternity of Kappa Sigma Chi. These six individual bring new life to the fraternity that will hopeful allow us flourish on campus and in the community.

As for my academics, I have been busy with my class load for this semester but I am managing things very well. In my volleyball class we have started playing full games amongst each other to practice the skills we have learned. In my Urban Geography class we had the chance to sit in on city hall meeting in North Mankato. I learned that North Mankato community is active in their city government. We also talked with citizens of North Mankato and they talked about the important of saving the 200 year old oak trees. In my Nature of Math class we are discuss the misconception that charts display when not properly scaled. In my Social Problem class we are talk about issues and how they become social problems. I wonder if anything can become a social problem? In my art class, I complete my first project which is bird made of metal sheets. This project required me to login in my more hours than I had expected to put in.

I am extremely excited for the month of November because the Pan-African Student Organization is going to be holding our annual Our Story Conference. In previous years I had leadership roles in the organization but this I more of mentor to the new students.

All the best,

September

I can’t believe that I am one month closer to graduating from college. The month of September has been eventful seeing old friends, professor, and meeting the new first year’s students. I have the wonderful opportunity of welcoming the new first year class to Pan-African Student organization.

My classes are going well thus far for the amount of reading that I due on nightly basis. Although, I like reading I’m beginning to feel overwhelmed but I am able to manage. I am taking five classes this semester from various disciplines. One of my classes is Urban Geography and in this class we discuss how urban cities have developed. The ultimate question we are trying to answer is “Cities for Whom”? My second class is Nature of math and in this course we learn to think for mathematical problems in ways that are abnormal.
